These Systems which Solar Tech Inc. uses is a system that consists of a series of parallel glass vacuum tubes. The tubes are heated by the sun. This system helps within residential and commerical applications for heating hot water for daily usage. A closed loop system is typical for the mid-Atlantic area.
Product InformationEach vacuum tube contains black copper pipe containing glycol. As the sun shines onto the vacuum tubes, the gylcol inside the pipe is heated. The heat rises to the manifold. In which, glycol flows through the manifold and picks up the heat from the tubes. The heated liquid circulates through another heat exchanger and transfers its heat to water that is stored in a solar storage tank. The water in the storage tank is then used for daily usage.
"Solar Thermal (heat) energy is often used for heating water used in homes and swimming pools and for heating the insides of buildings (space heating)."
"About 30% of our total energy consumption is used to heat water."
